The products of the Poudrerie d'Aubonne
Charcoal
Committed to tradition - from the first to the last production step: The charcoal required for the production of our powder is traditionally produced by us to this day. For this we char buckthorn and alder wood at precise and controlled temperatures.
Primer Powder Ob
This powder is made from buckthorn charcoal. It is easy to ignite and is made up of around 100,000 grains per gram. Our primer powder was mainly developed for flint and fuse guns.
Normal explosive powder
This powder is made from alder charcoal.
In contrast to explosive rock explosives, this explosive powder is not detonated, but rather in the form of rapid combustion (deflagration). This means that its mode of action is not smashing, but pushing. For this reason, it is particularly suitable for blasting where the rock has to be treated carefully, for example for extracting marble, roofing slate or paving and ashlars.
Hunting gunpowder
Our hunting gunpowder is made exclusively from buckthorn charcoal.
Its appearance is reminiscent of graphite. It is marked with a European (1 to 5) and an English-American (1 Fg to 4 Fg) numbering. This marking defines the grain size and the number of grains per gram.
Please note: the choice of gunpowder must be carefully considered! It is essential to be able to achieve excellent results. Our No. 1 hunting powder is recommended for pistol shooting, all other types are suitable for long-barreled weapons.
Our hunting gunpowder enjoys great popularity in marksman circles because of its excellent quality in terms of performance and durability. Numerous world records that have been achieved using our powders speak volumes and testify to the professional manufacture and excellent quality of our products.
Firework powder
Our firework powder is made from buckthorn charcoal. It is an important ingredient in the production of fireworks and is presented either as flour or as fine grains. It can be produced with two components (nitrate and charcoal) in different compositions
Firecrackers and artillery powder
This type of powder (Böller) is made from alder charcoal.
The powder mill in the Swiss village of Aubonne has existed since 1853 and is still used today to produce particularly high-quality black powder and propellant powder.
In 2002, the Aubonne black powder factory obtained the ISO 9001:2015 quality certification and in 2004 the CE marking; both are updated regularly. She has been a member of the Société Suisse des Explosifs Group in Brig since 2017.
